Rolf’s Place ↠ Nairobi, Kenya

The perfect accompaniment to a trip to Kitengela Glass is a stop at the picturesque Leopard Cliff Mansion, also known as Rolf’s Place.

Situated approximately 20kms from Nairobi’s city centre, Rolf’s resembles a medieval fortress built onto the side of the cliff that it overlooks.

The only way to reach the hotel from the carpark is via a suspension rope bridge, which for those with a fear of height may struggle with, but trust me the view from the other side is well worth biting the bullet and facing your fears.

A stop at Rolf’s following your Kitengela adventure allows for either a coffee/drink break or for those a little more hungry, a lunch break.

Although they have an extensive menu including cold and hot entrees, salad dishes, steaks, seafood and other main courses, be sure to ask what is actually available first.

Our waiter failed to mention that from the 5 soup options, there were only 2 available, from the multiple main dishes on offer, there were actually only 3 available {2 of them being steak options}. So to avoid having your eye on one dish only to be disappointed, ask the waiter as soon as you sit down what they have that day.

My main {pepper steak} was unfortunately not the best as my piece of steak wasn’t very nice, however, Jordan and Courtney both had the same main and both got really good pieces of steak.

The view that accompanies your lunch though definitely makes up for the lack of available menu options. If you’re lucky you may even spot a leopard, after all Rolf’s doubles as leopard cliff.

For those looking for a longer getaway than just a day trip can opt to stay at Rolf’s as they have a number of boutique hotel rooms on offer as well as a pool for the warmer days.

Either way, whether your trip to Rolf’s is merely a day adventure or a weekend getaway, it serves for perfect photo ops whether you’re standing on the bridge or sitting in the dinning room.
