Euro Summer ↠ Bump Friendly Outfits

Let’s be honest, you’re either one of those people flooding your friend’s social media feeds with Euro summer pics or you’re the friend being flooded and living your travel dreams vicariously through your friends’ uploads.

I’m very lucky to be able to say, I was one of the fortunate people to be uploading my travel inspo pics this year. I must point out though, that unlike the majority of those on my social feeds living the drinking, partying, Euro summer lifestyle mine was a lot tamer given I was 26-29 weeks pregnant during my time over there.

Having only ever been pregnant during the winter months back home in Australia I was not prepared for the reality of how uncomfortable it is to be in your third trimester in 30+ degree heat, especially when you have limited clothes that fit your ever-growing bump! Which brings me to the purpose of this post: to share my bump-friendly outfits that got me through my 3 weeks of European summer.

To be honest, as I didn’t have an extensive wardrobe of options and I really just cycled through a handful of items (and trust me I packed everything summer and heat friendly I possibly had, in fact, I went to the effort of making sure I tried everything on the week prior to leaving Australia yet some of the things didn’t fit me by the time I got to Austria – annoying!). Below I’ve listed my go-to outfits.

Flowy Dresses – I had a handful of flowy dresses and they were probably my absolute go-to for most days as their loose fit style was non-restrictive which meant no unnecessary pressure across my tummy and they were super comfy no matter what size bump was.

Dress – New U Collection.
Dress – this was actually my mum’s dress which she purchased several years ago in England.
Hat – Will & Bear Andy in colour cream.
Dress – Ghanda.
Dress – New U Collection.
Jacket – Western Denim Jacket from Princess Polly.
Shoes – Crocs Crush Sandal in colour bone.

Maternity Activewear Shorts + Crops – during my first pregnancy with Sahara I didn’t purchase a single maternity-specific piece of clothing, this time though I’ve invested in a few pairs of activewear shorts and leggings and let me tell you, the shorts in particular, are amazing and quite possibly the comfiest thing I’ve worn all pregnancy as there’s no pressure along my bump. While not the most fashionable thing, they’re super easy to style either with a crop top alone or throwing an oversized shirt on as well.

Shorts – maternity bike shorts from Cotton On in colour core steely shadow.
Top – All About Eve.
Shorts - maternity bike shorts from Cotton On in colour core black
Blouse - Into branded, can't remember where from though
Hat - Will & Bear Andy in colour cream
Bag - utility crossbody bag from Kmart in black
Shoes - classic platform Crocs

Music Concert outfit – can’t say I ever expected to be 27 weeks pregnant and going to a music concert, but my parent’s surprised me with tickets to my all-time fav band Hilltop Hoods and this is what I opted to wear.

Top – Jane Norman high-neck crop
Pants – Valley Girl
Shoes – Puma Cali Star sneakers from Platypus
Bag – utility crossbody bag from Kmart in black

Shoes – I had originally packed:

  • a pair of thongs (flip flops for you non-Aussie’s),
  • my platform clog Crocs,
  • my runners,
  • the Puma sneakers as seen in the photo above,
  • and my 2 pairs of Reef Cushion Vista Hi sandals that I have in white and natural,

but on the first day of being in Vienna, I had barely made it out of the door in my Reef sandals before blisters started appearing. They’re usually some of my comfiest shoes but I think because of the heat and also the long travel on the plane (mixed in with being pregnant too), my feet had swelled slightly and they rubbed on the sandals to the point where I was in so much pain! Luckily we’d gone to a shopping centre where there was a Crocs store so I had a quick browse around and ended up purchasing two pairs of sandals the Crush Sandal and the Skyline Slide. I’m not joking when I say I literally rotated between these two pairs for the rest of my time in Europe. They are hands down the best shoes I’ve ever had and made the extensive amount of walking that I was doing so much more bearable. Plus, especially for you Crocs haters out there, you’d never even know they were the Crocs brand!

Shoes – Crocs Crush Sandal in colour bone.
